Katherine Grant
In her 21 years, Katherine impacted more people than most do in a lifetime. Her electric personality left those meeting her for the first time referring to her as their best friend by the end of the night. Her unique combination of kindness, honesty, humor and heart brightened every room she entered. When she wasn’t making her friends and family smile, she made herself smile with her love for dogs and art, and impeccable taste in movies, music, and books.
Katherine graduated from Peabody High School in 2010, where she was Class Treasurer and ranked 18th in her class. She went on to study secondary education at Providence College where she made fast friends with a great group of people. Just 2 ½ months into her Freshman year at Providence, Katherine was struck with a severe headache that wouldn’t go away. We learned they were being caused by a very rare and aggressive pediatric brain tumor – Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT). Throughout her 3-year battle with cancer, she constantly showed us that laughter is the best medicine for every tough spot – and she reminded us of that more than anyone.
